Sequels

Sequels

I never thought I’d do a series of stories. I guess because I figured that would require plotting, and I’m still not sure how to do that. However, Transplant is out, and it’s the sequel to Abduction, and if readers like it enough I’ll do a third and final of it, probably longer than the short story though, to wrap it all up. I never planned on doing a sequel to The Devil Inside, but when Angelo walked into the sotry I just knew he had a story, (and I’ve plans for him in the works right now.)

Mrs.Giggles says she’d like to see more of Tammi’s story from Meandros, along with almost every one else I’ve heard from…so that’s in the back of my mind to.

What I’m curious about is, for some of them, like Meandros, I don’t plan on doing another short story, but instead taking what I have, and continuing it into a full length single title, in print. The same with The Devil Inside. Instead of doing the sequel in electronic, but take it and write the sequel as well and get them in print. Would you, as readers, be interested in that? or would you rather just another short story/novella ebook? Does it matter if it’s in print or electronic format?

  1. You already know what I think, but I’ll say it anyway.
Sequels work – people love familiar characters that they can identify with. I think it’s a great idea and I can’t wait to read Angelo’s story! 🙂

People love sequels/series. But if they love a short story, and only wished the story was longer, then you’ve got a built in audience there too.

er, my only concern at this point would be ‘print rights’ do you actually have the legal right at this point to do what you plan and/or is the print house willing to go there? I know some of them won’t even if the author holds rights to the original story/characters from the short.

    Thanks, Beth!

Jaq~ Yup all legal angles are covered. As none of my plans will go against contracts already held. I don’t plan on burning any bridges anywhere or getting stuck anyhow. 😎
