Life.

Life.

I’ve admitted I’m not a very technical person right?:plain:
Computer problems tend to really get me going because I feel so helpless when dealing with them. I had a real big problem develop last week. My word processing programs kept shutting down every time I tried to “save” a document.
So I did everything I was supposed to do. I called support, I emailed support. And I followed their intsructions. Spent $130 on a disk utility program that should fix anything. Then the program froze on my computer. I called the support line and after a brief conversation that went something like this.
Me: “I picked up Disk Warrior on Friday to try and fix my problem and the program gets to step 5 and freezes.”
Tech Guy: “What do you mean freezes?”
Me: “It stops working. The computer freezes and doesn;t do anything.”
Tech guy: “Are you sure? How much time did you give it?”
Me: “7.5 hours” (Actually was closer to 10 but I didn’t want him to laugh at me.)
Tech Guy: “Oh! Ok. Bring it in.”
I brought it in and the super busy guy looked at it right away. After 4 hours he got the program working, but the problem with my word processors was still there. So the computer is in the shop for a week waiting for a new hard drive.:satisfied:
During this time there was huge storm outside. Hail, flooding and tornado warnings (two actually touched down in surrounding areas) and of course, I’d left my car window open because it was nice when I’d arrived at the computer shop. :O
So I had to sit in a wet seat and drive home. Hey, there were cars Floating under the bridge here so I was glad it was just a bit of a wet bottom I had to deal with.
Then when I got home I hooked up my laptop to the Internet and went to check my email. Oops! I couldn’t get into it because I couldn’t remember the username and password!
On my desktop computer it’s set to automatically log me in, and it’s been so long that I couldn’t remember the actual correct words. Ugh! How stupid is that? So I emailed Genevieve and begged her to check her files for me. Thank God she keeps records of the things she sets up for me. 🙂
So I’m back now…and working on my novella.
Hmmm …would you all like a sneak peek at what I’m working on?
