I really enjoyed both MOON CALLED and BLOOD BOUND, but Patricia Briggs takes it to a whole new level with IRON KISSED.

The story starts off not long after where BLOOD BOUND ended, and gets thing rolling quickly. Mercy is asked by Zee and Uncle Mike to try and sniff out the culprit who’s been murdering fae on their reservation. All the favorites are back, Kyle and Warren, Honey and Darryl, Ben, Jesse, and of course, Adam and Samuel. And it soon becomes clear to Mercy that time is running out where Adam and Samuel are concerned. She needs to choose between the two Alphas’s before tempers hit a critical level.

However, before she can deal with that, Zee is arrested for murder, and Mercy is the only one willing to try and save him. The fae aren’t happy she’s learned so much about them in her investigation, and once again, Mercy is in danger.

That’s all I’m going to say about the plot, because I truly don’t think anyone here wants any spoilers, and really, you need to read this book. I’ve always loved Mercy, who is a scrapper through and through, and this story only made me love her more.

Briggs works magic with her words, and makes my heart swell with emotion. At one point, tears were shed, and I was glad that the author was brave enough to take the character to a place where no one really wanted to go, myself included. It was the right move though, right for the story, and the characters. Take my word for it, IRON KISSED is not to be missed.

There are a lot of posts around the blogosphere about the New Year, the past year, resolutions, and goals. I wasn’t going to post one because my goals and resolutions are a year round thing. However, Paperback Writer has a great post up about writing a dangerous book this year, and I’m going to join her.

I’ve not been around the publishing industry long, and from what writer friends tell me, I already have a bit of a reputation for being edgy and pushing the envelope a bit – when it comes to erotic fiction. Yet, I still feel that *I* need to change things up. When I try to think of new stories and new ideas, I’m stumped. Mainly because I feel as if I’ve written the stories I wanted to write. I’ve never exactly been a safe or traditional storyteller, but I have to admit I’m a bit stumped by what to do next. I have editors waiting for proposals from me, but I’ve not sent anything because I can’t think of an idea *I* can get excited about.

The good thing? John, my editor at Kensington accepted a blank idea for my last contract. By that I mean, He accepted the one book idea (PRIMAL MALE will be the sequel to SEXY DEVIL) but the second book in the 2 books sale is a blank. I can send him a proposal later, when it’s time to work on the story. This gives me time to find something I really want to write. So my erotic fiction will be getting edgier still, as well as maintaining the very important emotional aspect that I think makes true erotic fiction rock.

Beyond that, I want to try another genre. Not sure what, I have a few ideas…but I’m going for a dangerous book in 2 ways. It will be something I’ve never written, and it will be envelope pushing in a way that will surprise even me.

This is just a little thing I wrote a long long time ago…but I was remineded of it when I worked out yesterday. Some of you might have read it before, as it’s in SECRET THOUGHTS: EROTIQUE, as well as has been a free read on my site before…but as I am trying to help motivate many with my Slim Camp health journey, I thought I’d post it today for everyone. See what happens when you go to the gym…inspiration can strike!

THE GYM

How’s everyone doing?

Grand Marnier Fudge

Journal as: 2 pieces of fudge as 1 portion of sweet dessert Orange with chocolate is a flavor combination made in heaven. For a festive touch, decorate each square with candied orange peel. You can substitute whatever liqueur you like for the Grand Marnier.

1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
1 cup Eagle Brand Fat-Free Sweetened Condensed Skimmed Milk (not evaporated)
1/4 cup Grand Marnier liqueur
Dash salt

Line an 8- or 9-inch square pan with foil; set aside.
Put all ingredients in a medium-sized, microwave-safe glass bowl or 8-cup measure. Microwave on high for about 2 minutes, stirring well after each minute. Microwave one more minute or until chocolate is completely melted. Stir until smooth.
Spread evenly into prepared pan. Chill in refrigerator 2 hours or until firm.
Remove fudge by lifting foil out of pan. Place on cutting board. With large, thick knife, cut off one column of fudge; peel off foil and cut into squares. Repeat with other columns of fudge.
NOTE: Fudge can be covered and stored in the refrigerator or at room temperature.

Yield: 36 pieces

Per serving: 102 calories, 1.5 g protein, 15 g carbohydrate, 4 g fat (2.5 g saturated fat, 1.4 g monounsaturated fat, 0.1 g polyunsaturated fat), 2 mg cholesterol, 0.8 g fiber, 25 mg sodium. Calories from fat: 35%.

Warm Eggnog
Recipe provided by Dara Steiger, MS, RD, director of nutrition at L.A. Weight Loss Centers.

4 cups skim milk
6 eggs, beaten
3/4 cups of Splenda
2-3 tablespoons of brandy, bourbon, or amaretto
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 cup light whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
Beat the eggs, Splenda, and salt in a bowl. Stir in skim milk. Cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture coats a metal spoon. Remove from heat.

Stir in alcohol of choice, vanilla, and ground nutmeg. Before serving, beat light whipping cream with a mixer on medium speed until soft peak forms. To serve, put the eggnog into a punch bowl and fold in whipping cream. Serve immediately. Sprinkle each cupful with additional ground nutmeg.

I’m thrilled!! I’ve had reader emails asking if my Berkley books would ever go into eBook formatt, and this is the first one to do so! I get the impression this is a test to seel how well it sells, and if it sells well, the others might be made available. This is just my guess.

MYSTERY / SCARLET NEWS:

Mystery and Scarlet met for the first time tonight.

After my hour spent in Scarlet’s room, Mystery was pissed at me.

She wouldn’t sit on my lap or let me pet her, so when she went back to guard duty, I opened the door and out came Scarlet.
