What to do…

What to do…

So, Facebook has disabled my Sasha White Profile, and I had some great things to share with the readers on my readers group, but I can’t, because a PAGE on facebook can not do certain things. Which Is why I also had a profile.

For those of who don’t know a PAGE is where you LIKE something ( A band, an author, a service…) now, we can post a status on that Page, but just because you’ve liked it, does not mean that status will show up your newsfeed.  In order for that status to show up in your feed you have to like and comment on any status you see from us. The more you like and comment on a status, the more often updates from that page will show up in your feed. Or we,the page owners, need to pay FB a fee.

Another thing about the Page. I can not message anyone. I can reply to messages that are send to my page, but I can not innitiate a conversation.

I can not join a group. Even my own Reader Group. That also means I can not take part in any parties or promotions that are events.

This is why so many of us have a Page, and a Profile. Because with a profile we can do so much more. But profiles only allow a certain number of friends.

Now, I still have my page, and can access it. So I’ll still make announcements and try to be there. (and on twitter) but not being able to interact with my regular peeps, those who read, and chat, and share, has left me really hating the way FB has made us so dependent. And in all honesty, I’m not sure they’ll ever re-instate my profile, because I don’t have any id that has Sasha White as a name on it. Yes, surprise, it’s not my real name. LOL

When FB disables the account the only way to interact with them is through their help page. Which allows you to send 3 images as proof of ID. But no words and No message. So I can not say something like… look at the images over the years I’ve had that profile, an see me, the same person, signing books, and promoting my books, and PAYING FOR ADS to promote those books on FB with a card in my real name. Here’s the id with that real name. I can’t say, here are people who can vouch for me… nope. can’t say anything. So, I have no idea if they’re smart enough to look at the proof I sent in images (ID , copyright license in real name) but this had made it clear to me that I need to find a new way to interact with those who want to interact with ME.

I’m thinking maybe a forum? It would require you sign up and create an account though.  I had one once, but it died a slow painful death, so I’m not sure how it would do now. I send out newsletters, but those are one way. I also have this blog, but its very public, and sometimes I want to share things with only those who will appreciate it.

So, suggestions??

Sorry that you are still dealing with this. You could try setting up a “Community” on Google+ (for however long it keeps limping along). Anyone with a gmail address already has a google+ profile whether they want it or not. I see that you have a profile there and just added you to my circles.

I think the google plus community is a great idea. I have one for my business and it is rather helpful. You can make the community private, so only the members can see the content everyone can post and best part is all members get a notification when something is posted in the group. I love the feature because people actually know, like on FB when something is happening in the group.
