I’ve been spending a bit of time in My Room at Liquid Silver Books lately. It’s fun to have a forum where people can post and talk with more space than my blog provides. I admit, I had to peek into the proverbs thread for insipration this morning. I wasn’t feeling very motivated.

I’ve been slacking in the actual writing department for about 2 weeks now. Instead of writign I’ve been surfing the internet, reading, a bit of promotion, website updates…you know..the small things that feel like work, but aren’t ? Okay, the reading didnt; feel liek work…and it was research…and the fact that I watched the whole season 5 of ANGEL was research too. I want to write another paranormal. 😀

However, this weekend I’ll be glueing my ass to the chair and writing. I will not allow myself any more exscuses. Bigger publishers are starting buy more and more erotica authors and helping them get into mainstream fiction…an d I don’t want to miss out. But, if I don’t write something new soon, I will.

On a more personal note. I’m thinking about trying an online dating community to meet someone. All this talk of relationships and such…I want one.

I know I go through phases when I want to be in a relationship, and when I love being single and living alone. But, maybe I just enjoy being alone so much because I haven’t met anyone that feels like they ‘fit’ with me. It’s hard to meet guys when all I do is work and write. Even though I work in a pub…it’s a pub that doesn’t give me alot to choose from since it’s mostly regualrs, and couples. And even the few regulars that are attractive…well…the other waitresses have all been with them before and i’m not one to be part of the group…so to speak.

So..what do you think of online dating communities? Anyone met someone special through them? Or tired too?

  1. :)When I first went online I wanted e-pals, I put an ad at mytelus, I met some really nice guys, some stayed around for along time some not so long. Most were looking for romance others just wanted someone to chat to too. Now I meet most of my chat buddies through my Yahoo profile pokeonce, most disappear when they relize I am only looking for friendship, but the ones that remain are special.(like Shayne, maybe cause he is married too)
My daughter visits the Edmonton chat room at yahoo… but usually ends up disappointed.

Ok online dating…..I’ll admit every man I’ve dated since my divorce I met online–either through chatting or personal ads. Some were good; some were bad. Just like meeting them anywhere else.

Good luck and have fun! :hehe:

  3. A co-worker and I were talking about this one day. Her friend met her husband through a dating website, I forget which one. She encouraged my co-worker to sign up but of course she got the freaks. She’s a magnet for them everywhere.

I think it’s no different than a bar. People have the tendancy to be liars wherever you meet them.

There’s this site that I had to sign up for to take this IQ test a friend sent me and it actually matches you with people in your area. I’ve been e-mailed by a couple of guys from the site but haven’t done anything, gone anywhere, interested since well…there’s this guy already. Damn him.

I say go for it. Life’s too short. Another friend had a friend (lost yet) who she married after she met him online and moved to England. It’s more common than picking up people in bars.

By the way, I’ve gone to the Calgary chat room to mock the Flames. Sorry.

  4. After my brother’s wife died, when he was ready to date, he met someone through an online dating site and they’re married now!

I don’t like her, actually, but that’s not the point. :hehe:

  5. I didn’t meet my dh online (met him in a class), but I got to know him that way and through phone calls. It’s amazing what you can learn about people after you’ve been writing back and forth for a couple of months. I know there’s an online dating place called eHarmony. I see the commercials all the time. I think you take an extensive personality tests to determine compatibility.
