Weakness

Weakness

This weekend is going to be all about rewriting. Not just TDI (the novella I just had the ephinany with) but for GYPSY HEART as well. I just received the revisions letter back from the editor, and suprisingly . . . not a lot to do on it. Remove a few scenes, tie up a few loose ends. The biggest problem seems to be … c’mon what do y’all think?? My GRAMMAR!! Ugh! I swear, I’m never gonna learn this stuff. I thought I was doing so much better. I study workbooks, and really pay attention to what my cp’s pick up on . . . yet. I’m still gettiing comments about how sucky my grammar is.

Then again, I have to remember that while I did go over GH again before submitting it, that it was originally written almost 2 years ago. I know my grammar has improved since then.

What about you? What’s the weakest link in your writing? Is it a technical one (Like grammar) or is it a craft one (like lack of character development) or a creative one? (like the inability to “see” the whole picture)

And Steph. Lack of plotting ability is NOT a weakness, it just means we’re quick thinkers that can adapt to growing story elements easily.:D

I love this 🙂 I’m totally quoting you from now on.

And how’d you know I was going to say plotting? – LOL. Hmmm, okay, seriously, my biggest weakness is my lack of description as it refers to setting. I tend to notice people much more than surroundings, like furniture, weather, etc., so I always have to go back and layer that in…after my CP’s point it out to me. 😀

😥 Sasha, I’ve tried that! I suck at pantsing, too! 🙁 My novels are all directionless and sucky when I do that. Well, they’re like that when I plot, too, but even more so.

  3. I’ve found my problem with plotting comes from the fact that I’ve yet to be able to define plot in a manner that I understand clearly. Yes, I’m one of those people. My dh assures me I am plotting and that a story by definition always has a plot. Some are just bigger than others. Have I mentioned how much I love him? 😀

Jordan LOL what a great guy. DOes he cook like Steph’s hubby?
I think for me it’s a toss up between scene setting (Steph) and establishing early GM and/or C.

For me, scene setting has to fit it just cant be there and writing in first person IMO makes it harder because my lead character already knows most of the places she’s been/going so why would she think about the descriptions…quite a conundrum(sp?)
