lazy

So, for the last couple of years I’ve been trying to lose weight. And sometimes I do really good. I stick with it and I feel good. The other times I don’t care. Mentally, I want to be healthier, but I know unless I really want it, it won’t happen.

Writing is the same. I can write a novella in a week, when I want to.

But right now, I’m not getting anything done. And I know it’s because I don’t have the urge. Yet, I’m not depressed. I just feel lazy. Is it a seasonal thing? Is it just time to go lay on a beach for while? I don’t want to be lazy.

So How do I kickstart my ass?

Release day!!

ALLURING TALES is officially released now!

Order from Chapters.ca
Order from Amazon.Com

Chrissy gives it 5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies:
“The Allure authors did a fantastic job compiling this anthology! All of these tales are vastly different, full of fascinating characters, hot sex, emotional situations, and witty dialogue. This is one of the few anthologies that I’ve read where I loved all of the stories. Each story flowed easily into the next one and I never felt like I had to stop reading before continuing onto the next author’s contribution. Wonderfully done ladies! I hope to see many more collaborative efforts in the future.”

And about my story, TEMPTING GRACE, specifically:
“Sasha White is quickly becoming a ‘must read’ author and this tale is a prime example of why readers love her books. Grace and Lukas are polar opposites. She’s an ex-stripper and he’s a preacher’s son. She doesn’t think that she’s good enough for him. He’s out to prove that she’s wrong.”

Catch Up

Okay, Sorry I’ve been pretty much MIA for a while. I finished WICKED and SEXY DEVILS, and went back to work ~ and during it all I had a hellish head cold and the flu.

But, I also managed to go to my very first Kink event. As in, it was like a writers confernce but it was BDSM focused. :) I took seminars on military scenes, BDSM and the law, and my fave, Degrees of Power, Degrees of Freedom. It was awesome stuff.

I admit it, I was a bit nervous to go, especially by myself, but I’m brave. And it was well worth it. I met some amazingly open and helpful people. I learned a lot, and saw a lot! Yup, there was a play party on Sat and Sunday night, I went to the one on Sat night and got my first real good look at a Dungeon full of people doing their thing. (Not having sex, but things like spanking, flogging, ropes, or sensation play.)

And yes, I dipped my toe in too. *blush* Some people might say I jumped in, but I don’t think of it that way. LOL All I did was let someone tie me up. I really wanted to experience the whole rope Shibari thing! And I had met the couple I let do it before, so I felt safe.

It was… interesting. I haven’t really had a lot of time to go over it in my mind yet.. but I do know I learned one thing about my own views of D/s and such that weekend. For Me, it’s all about the sexual aspect of things. Which makes sense when you read my stories, the D/s play is all centered around bedroom antics/lust/desires and needs. But clearly, that is not all there is to BDSM, and it’s not that way for everyone.

I’ll write more about this stuff later, like I said, I haven’t really had a chance to think about all I saw/learned when I was there because of everything else going on. But I had to at least tell you all that I did it. I finally got to be tied up!!

Win a seat in my Workshop.

What is it that makes a story stand out? We all want to know the secret, but the truth is…there is no secret. What makes one book stand out from the other, what makes one story memorable isn’t always the complicated plot or the unique characters. More times than not, it’s the author’s voice.

In this four week online workshop author Sasha White will help you discover and strengthen your personal voice and style, and show you the way to the magic behind the words.

That’s the blurb for the month long online workshop I’ll be teaching at Access Romance during the month of March.

This workshop is going to be a Blast!! Why? BEcause it’s me, and I’m not in the middle of a book, and I have time to PLAY…oh, and it’s a month long so participants can pick my brain all they want!!

Memoirs

At one point in my life, before I ever considered being a writer, one of my closest friends told me I should write a memoir. That at 28 years old, my life would make a hell of a story. Every now and then that comment pops up into my head again, and you know what? It makes me realize that I’ve stopped living my life the way I used to.

BUT, more about my life later. Right now, I want to point a book out to y’all that I think you might find interesting. The Butcher, The Baker, The Candlestick Maker, is an erotic memoir. Do not make the mistake of thinking it’s an erotica fiction novel. However, if you’re as fascinated by sex, and the way people use it, abuse it and , react to it… then this book is for you.

It’s raw, edgy, at times disturbing, and at times arousing. AND, it’s a true story!

So basically … a great read.

Here’s the blurb, which tells you a bit more…and a link to the autors New Website, where hopefully she’ll put up some excerpts to tempt you all.

The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker: An Erotic Memoir is the story of my sexual reawakening - from losing my virginity to a loveless marriage and then regaining my confidence as a result of a chance meeting with a man 3000 miles away met on the internet.

My journey of self-discovery is anything but typical; my attitudes towards relationships and the men I meet along the way are even more unusual.

Suzanne Portnoy’s Website.

OH, and to be clear, my own memoire wouldn’t be an especially erotic one. LOL

Seduction?

My horoscope says someone is trying to seduce me. Could I be so lucky?

A seduction is under way - one that does not play by the rules. A casual approach will pass the time and take you away from worrying about a money matter with which you have been preoccupied.

Sorry I’ve been MIA, but I’ll post a full report in a few days!

BDSM novels

When BOUND was released, I was thrilled with how many peoepl enjoyed it. Really and truly, because it was first person, and not a traditional story, I was worried readers wouldn’t give it a chance or if they did, they wouldn’t like the content. Since then, I’ve learned that romance readers found BOUNDto be “edgy”, but ina very good way. They loved it!!
Then I had a few erotica readers/reviewers say it wasn’t really erotica ro it wasn’t really BDSM, but they enjoyed it anyway.
I figured cool. I hit the perfect level romance readers and erotica readers can enjoy it.

One day a few weeks ago on a message board I hangout on, there was a discussion about what makes a BDSM story good. I openly stated that I didn’t really consider BOUND a BDSM novel, even though there was elements of D/s in it. In the characters themselves.
As a resultof that conversation I sent BOUNDin to the BDSM Review site they talked about. Well, the review is up today.

I was told Bound wasn’t “really” a BDSM novel. I’d like to state for the record here and now, that Joe is Dominant and Katie is submissive. The rules are different for each individual. Those in this lifestyle actually have lives outside of Dominating and submitting. And believe it or not, sometimes a submissive has a say so in how their life is conducted. This was the beauty of Sasha White’s, Bound. It isn’t your typical BDSM story line. The characters are going through so much more in their lives besides sexual self discovery. Katie has plans, Joe has plans and they just happened to cross paths at a time in their lives when they needed one another.

Read The FULL review! It’s a wonderful review, not just cuz she liked the book, but because it tells a lot about it, without spoiling the story.

What hit ME today, reading the review, is that WICKED, the one I’m working on now, is along those very same line. While in BOUND, there are no characters “in the lifestyle” and it’s allabotu learning and accepting oneself, and ones own needs. WICKED has a Dom who’s been a Dom for years. He hangs out and plays in a public Dungeon, he has subs he’s played with for a while, and knows the life. Yes, there is a scene set in the Dungeon, and the sex in it pushes things a bit farther than Bound, or any of my other stories, but the story of WICKED is still a Character Based story. The D/s is part of them, and it’s all a journey, not a battle.

It’s hard to explain, but basically after reading that review, I feel a lot more comfortable about WICKED and they way it’s going, and I’m super anxious for people to read it!!

Shibari

Look at THIS BOOK

I want one. Not just because of the amazingly beatuiful pictures, but maybe I’ll learn something. Okay, I would definitely learn something cuz I’ve never attempted Shibari, but I do think it’s so beautiful. Don’t you?

Beautiful Bondage

John Grinter and Mark Varley are the creators of the book. Mark, one of them, runs quite a few Bondage sites, as well as photography ones, full of information and photo’s. I’m super impressed, he makes my research pretty simple.

If you’re procrastinating..take some time to surf a bit.

So True

So I was searching for a quote to insert into my WIP, WICKED, tonight. WICKED is Karl’s story, and has required a lot more research than I anticapated, because he’s a Dom that’s lived inteh D/s lifestyle fro years.

The research has been deliciously interesting and I just have to share some of the quotes I found that I loved.

“The practice of putting women on pedestals began to die out when it was discovered that they could give orders better from there.” - Betty Grable

“A sadist is someone who refuses to be mean to a masochist.” - Anonymous

“Ordinary life does not interest me. I seek only the high moments. I am in accord with the surrealists, searching for the marvelous.” - Anais Nin

More Kink

Yup…another great review for KINK!!

Alyssa, at BY THE BOOK, say’s

Kink is a great title for this book, because the stories are a little kinky. ;) Not too much, I’d say, but this is not a book for readers who want fade-to-black sex scenes. The love scenes in both novellas are lush, with no holds barred. The fact that these scenes are also emotionally compelling just makes it better…My rating for Kink is 4 out of 5–a solid, enjoyable read.”
