On my trip to Nepal, I was supposed to go for 3 weeks - an organized tour with trekking, whitewater rafting and an elephant safari. However, I ended up staying for three months, volunteering at a school, and in my off time, I was either whitewater rafting or bumming about in Kathmandu. When in the city I stayed with some of the guys that were my Whitewater Rafting guides during the tour part. This was the corner of the room that was the kitchen, where Suku prepared and cooked. See the green bucket? Once a day we’d fill it with water from the one outdoor tap of running water (and it was only cold) that worked the whole building, and that was our kitchen tap. It had a little spout that trickled water to wash the dishes with.
