Wordle

(Click on picture to see bigger version)

PBW has introduced me to WORDLE so I thought I’d give it a try and see what the most used words in the PRIMAL MALE manuscript are. Not bad I think considering Drake is the hero and Melissa the heroin. Good to have their names the most used words. LOL

Sins Gift

Delilah’s Here!!!

She did send me her stuff yesterday, but it was already after I went to work, so here’s a little about one of my favorite authors, and her newest release. Check it out!

Sasha: What are you planning for the series?
Delilah: Sin’s Gift is the first in a series of books I’m tentatively calling The Shadowlands. It’s an introduction to the adventure series seen through the eyes of two human cops, one of whom suffered a head injury that enables her to see beyond the “glamour” otherworldly creatures use to disguise themselves. I wanted the reader to see it unfold from her eyes. I wanted the heroine to question her own sanity and for everyone around her wonder about her too. In sequels we’ll get to know better some of the creatures she aligns herself with. I wanted a lot of flexibility so that I could have fun with the stories and not have too repetitious a feel. Some will slip into the deep end of fantasy, others will slide more toward gritty, urban fantasy. I’m thinking since it’s set in Texas, why not have my demon team investigating other world horse rustler? What would happen if demons took over a maximum security prison? I just keep asking “what if?” and thinking about all the industries and flavors that exist in Texas and the stories could go on forever!

Why do you like writing series?
Delilah:The best thing about writing series is that I never had to say goodbye to characters I love.

When I wrote my very first vampire story for Ellora’s Cave, All Hallow’s Heartbreaker, I wasn’t planning on writing a series. I had a secondary character, Quentin, who emerged fully fleshed, with a wicked sense of humor, who I didn’t like leaving without a “Happily Ever After.” Readers wanted his story too, so I obliged with Love Bites. When I wrote his story, there was a messy ménage love scene and another sexy male who was heartbroken at the end of the story. Before I knew it, I’d published six stories in the My Immortal Knight realm. Series was easy for me to write, not that I ever planned a sequel ahead of time, it’s just the way each story blended into the next. I’m now writing the 7th book in that series, but offering it free to readers through my newsletter group.

When I sold to Avon RED with the first of my Dark Realm stories, I committed, up front, to writing a series. Suddenly, I had to find those threads that I could drop for the next story, and the writing got much more complicated because the stories were more complex with a much larger cast of characters.

How did you come up with the idea for the Sin’s Gift?
Delilah:As happens a lot to me, I was drifting off to sleep, thinking about this cop who’s just come back to work after being shot in the head. I’d been watching a lot of Vincent D’Onofrio in “Criminal Intent” and loving how damaged he is. I’d been missing San Antonio since I moved to Arkansas. I thought about my hardass female cop working in one of the substations around that city and what her first day back at work would be like, and then I started to dream. Of course, I had to get up and write that first scene as it played out. It’s not magic or anything, it’s just my overactive imagination and insomnia.

When Police Officer Sinead O’Rourke returns to duty months after being shot in an incident that also claimed her partner, she knows it’s not going to be easy. Despite being cleared of any negligence, her fellow officers wonder whether she’s partially responsible for his death. One more problem is that everyone knows she claims to have seen his ghost. After months of rehabilitation and lying like hell about the fact she’s not seeing spooks anymore, Sin’s determined to get back into the saddle.

Jake Chapa doesn’t want to partner with Sin. Been there, done that—couldn’t keep his hands off her the first time around. She’s too much of a distraction and her penchant for rushing into trouble scares the shit out of him. Despite wishing she’d quit her job, he’s still deeply attracted, so much so that when an armed robbery goes down and something happens that rattles Sin to the core, he’s right there—ready to cover her back and her sweet body…

Friday!

Okay, it’s a weird day.

So far, everything that can go wrong, has. Yet, I’m still in a strangely good mood. I think it’s my new attitude. Yep, it’s sort of like Don’t sweat the small stuff, but bigger. As in, Oh well, I have no control, so let the universe have at it. LOL

Example, I’m stressed about Primal Male. I, personally, am not thrilled with the end. I wanted to keep tinkering with it, evenjust fro a day…but it’s in production, and that means no more tinkering. My editor was wonderful enough to let me tinker away until it was “Get it it, NOW!” but alas, I’m still unsure of it.

Editor says it’s good, agent says it’s great. Test readers all enjoyed it. One cp agrees with me that the end felt too rushed, and I couldn’t worked a bit more conflict in until the last minute..or explained the conflict better. Maybe I’ll write an “alternate ending” and post it on the bookpage. Not sure. I’m hoping it’s just typical author insecurity, and readers will love it - or at least don’t hate it.

I finally decided on colors to paint my condo -I’ve been wanting to redo it all for a long time- and picked up some paint to do the main feature wall last night. SO today I managed to aint the trim so I just needed to get the roller and paint the insides…make sense? Yeah, and graceful me, who KNOWS better than to leave an open can of paint on the floor, stumbles, and steps IN the pain can, and spills 2/4 f a gallon of paint on the floor. Yes, I had a drop cloth down. 2 in fact. However, where the can knocked over was the CLOTH one, not the plastic drop sheet, and it soaked throughte material WQUICK, and inow I have some undeniable spots on my carpet. Undeniable RED paint on my tan/cream carpet.

I needed to get a new carpet anyway, but that wasn’t planned to happen until Christmas (Maybe getting wood laminate flooring for christmas) and while I’ll still wait …now I have to look at the red. floor. AT least the red wall will bring out the red in the carpet. *grin* Needless to say, I’m waiting until tomorrow to paint the inside space of that wall, I’m scared to attempt painting more today.

I have to work tonight. I’m hoping I don’t lose my job. The way my days I going, something wierd is gonna happen.

How was your week??
Big plans this weekend?

Meandros

Uplifting, sensually explicit and life changing, MEANDROS will satisfy any reader while tempting their senses… Encompassing heartbreak with a “can do” attitude this story will appeal to many and make readers believe that even though life goes on, the people that have made your life remarkable will never be forgotten. Go out and get this book because you will not be disappointed.” ~ Sheryl, eCataromance

Meandros was a book that won me a spot with Amber Quill publishing and got me rave reviews from many places, and some very touching emails from readers. The story was written almost 4 years ago, and hasn’t been available to the public for over a year now. I’ll be putting it up on my site as a free read next week, and wanted to show you the cover I MADE!

I know it’s not as professional as some, but I like it. So, here’s a look at what’s coming soon as a free download.

Meandros

When Tammi, a professional dancer, was injured in a car accident she thought her life was over. But then Tom, a handsome and sexy man entered her life, and refused to let her curl up and die physically, or emotionally. He taught her to find the passion of life again. He also taught her to live, and to love with her whole heart.

But when tragedy strikes again, and she loses him, will she give up on happiness and passion again? Or will she realize that the only way to honor the love of her life is to celebrate what he taught her?

Wow! MEANDROS is a beyond doubt a remarkable read. This very short story is overflowing with such powerful emotion. Readers, I would advise keeping a few tissues handy as you read Tammi’s story for it is a real tearjerker. I truly felt Tammi’s happiness and pain as she reminisces about her life with Tom. I am honored to bestow MEANDROS 5 glorious Angels and a Recommended Read!” ~Reviewed by Contessa

“Count on Sasha White to deliver first-rate blistering passion and tug on your heart strings at the same time. MEANDROS is soul-grabbing, richly evocative, and unforgettable! A true keeper!” ~Suzanne McMinn, author of The Beast Within

“This is an extremely touching story with great emotional depth… MEANDROS is most definitely a keeper!”~ Susan, Coffee Time Romance

“MEANDROS is a story that is simultaneously poignant and uplifting. This book will pull at your heartstrings but it will also give you a glimmer of hope that there is a second chance to love again… This is an evocative tale that demonstrates the power of love and a very sensual and sizzling story between the two main characters… The reader is left with a very uplifting and positive feeling and this in turn makes MEANDROS an unforgettable book that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for an inspiring but also romantically erotic read.” ~Aggie Tsirikas, Just Erotic Romance Reviews

Readers Speak

“Some books are multi-course meals, each course providing nourishment and feeding the soul. Others are pure confection—the equivalent of a frothy dessert. Sasha White’s books are always meaty reads that both satisfy the palette and make you think. Such is the case with Wicked: 4 out of 5.”

D.Salupo gave WICKED 5 Stars on Amazon.com and says, very simply ….

Readers Speak

I can’t remember who’s blog I saw this on, but someome was posting the 1 Star reviews of thier books, and since I’d started the “Readers Speak” thing a while ago, I figured Hey, why not. My books get great reviews, and I Love it. But to be fair, there are sometimes ones that make me go “whoa.”

So, here are my 1 star reviews from Amazon.

For WICKED:

“I was really excited to purchase this book from all its raved reviews. Only to be dissapointed with it once i recieved it. I mean at first i thought it was going be a quite steamy book with its prologue. But into the first chapter…just terrible. It really felt like someone carelessly, inexpreincely written it. The beginning was filled with too many repeats. With the character repeating lines from the other with expressing their mental thoughts. The female main character said ‘oh, yeah’ or ‘oh,yes’ so many times i wanted to shred the book. It wasn’t humourous, the dialogue wasnt smooth but choppy. There weren’t enough fluff or flow to the story and then to have meaningless scenes in the story just to tie us with characters from previous books or a hint of another. i thought she could’ve done a better job with the story line, i was hoping for more substance. And it end up being predictable and unoriginal… It had good ideas, like the scene were the main characters take a shower together, the meaning of the scene anyways…but White’s erotic scenes would either be done short and poorly or laid out and not enough detail. Save yourself the trouble, DONT waste your money on this one. Do buy Broken from Megan Hart, she written an absolutely tremediously heartwarming tale…”

No, I did not mess with the review. It was copied and pasted exactly as it was on Amazon, spelling errors, typos, and refrences to other authors as they were. And I actually have to Thank this reviewer, because of this review Megan Hart and I had a good starting point to chat about when we met in New York, and I now consider her a good friend. The woman rocks!

FOR TROUBLE:

Kelly said: I am an avid reader of erotic books, but for me to find one enjoyable, I prefer a good story along with the steamy sex. This book had no story to speak of, but what was worse, the characters were awful, and not developed. I didn’t care if they were together or not. Believe it or not the writing was worse than everything I mentioned above. The sex scenes were forced between two characters we cared nothing about. I only got in the first 100 pages, as that was all I could stomach. Spend your hard earned cash on something else.

J.Freedman Said:
“Am I the only person who couldn’t take this book seriously? I’m all for erotica books that have hot sex scenes and not much plot or character development to speak of (after all, who reads erotica for a plot?)… but this was just ridiculous. I can’t take this book seriously because the writing is just so cheesy and awful.”

Ouch! After many great reviews, those 2 One Star ones for Trouble were posted within a week of each other, just recently. But…There were no one star reviews for BOUND, and I’ll do the kensington books another day. I have to admit, I checked on SEXY DEVIL today though, and there were no one star reviews there either.

And too make it even more apparent that reading, and reviews, are all subjective, I figured nows a good time to announce that TROUBLE is a finalist in the MORE THAN MAGIC contest. A Reader Judged contest.
