Mastery *grin*

“SEXY DEVIL is comprised of two wonderfully written stories that will entertain as well as sizzle the pages. Author Sasha White shows her mastery at creating two true erotic romances rather than sex-filled, unplotted tales. In addition, readers get treated to a little bonus that caps it off beautifully.”
~Romance Reviews Today Erotic

I like that.

It’s not often I can claim to have Mastery. Not that I’m claiming it, but it is so nice that someone thinks I have it.

Also..Saskia and I made Violet blue’s “erotic books that don’t suck in 2007″ with Kink.

In Keeping with the holiday spirit, I’d like to give away a copy of one of these books! Winners Choice. For your chance to win, just comment here and tell me what you like about the Holiday Season. Is it family time? Time off work? Boxing Day Sales? or all the yummy food? I’ll pick a winner from the comments and announce on Monday!

The lovely Lauren Dane was on vactaion last week, and she took Trouble with her. (You’re a smart woman, Lauren..I hope it helped inspire some Holiday fun.) And she posted her thoughts on the book on her blog. I’m going to cheat, and show them to you here…

“Sasha White’s Trouble: I’m telling you, Sasha needs to send me an ARC of Karl’s story or I’m gonna have to tackle her at RT and I know what she looks and sounds like so she can’t hide from me.

Trouble is the story of Samair and Valentine - two very unlikely people in a very unlikely romance and yet, White has the hand to make it work and she does most ably.

Her characters are vivid and three dimensional, the sex (as always) is smoking hot and Trouble is just an all around fabulously fun read. White gives us real people with jobs, real people working through personal stuff, real people trying to figure out where someone else can fit in their life when they have goals and dreams that take a lot of time and dedication. I love that. Samair is not some withering heroine who gives up everything for her man but she’s smart enough to recognize the fact that true love isn’t something that rolls up every day.

Nicely done, Sasha! (now, about that ARC…”

Isn’t that great?

You can read about the other books Lauren read on her vaction HERE. I think I might have to pick up the new Michelle Pillow book after reading Lauren’s review.

And Thank You Nicole for this pic!! It’s thrilling to see TROUBLE on a spotlight table. (click on the picture for a larger one if you want)

I’ve noticed at the bookstores here in Alberta, my Berkley Books (Bound, Kink, and Trouble) are usually shelved in Erotica. Even while some other Berkley Heat books are shelved in romance. I think it’s because my covers are a bit edgier than the normal romance cover. However, I also think my covers completely suit my stories and I think they rock. *grin*
But it does make hunting the bookstores for my books fun sometimes.

Then again, when is hunting any books in a bookstore not fun?

I love just wandering around a bookstore, browsing, looking at covers and reading blurbs. Sometimes I go to the bookstore just to inspire myself if I’m struggling with a story. Sometimes I reach for a bottle of tequila -but that’s a different blog post. The other day I went to the gym, it wokred well.

What works for you when you need to inspire/motivate yourself?

Doubts, and other crazy writer issues.

Fallen Angel Reviews gives TROUBLE a Recommended Read! “Trouble is an awesome story of two people learning to trust and love. Samair and Val are a perfect pair and both characters will have readers panting for more. Ms. White gives the reader everything they want and so much more.” Sonya- Fallen Angel Reviews

I admit when I was writing TROUBLEI had a bit of a hard time with it. I just didn’t think it was any good. In fact, as I was writing it I kept whining to my poor cp Beth about how much it sucked. Even when the book was done, I worried that it sucked.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I -like most writers- tend to worry that whatever I’m working on sucks at the time I’m writing it. But with TROUBLE it was different than that. I didn’t worry it sucked. I really thought it sucked!

Strange too because I liked the characters, and I liked the story line, I was just super insecure about my own ability to tell the story.

I’m overjoyed that readers and reviewers disagree, and that they are enjoying it. But now I’m a bit worried about WICKED. My January 3rd release - Karl’s story. Why am I worried? Because when I was writing it, I thought it was the most powerful story I’d told yet. What if readers and reviewers disagree with me again?

And then there’s SEXY DEVIL, it will be releasing on November 27 from Aphrodisia, and I’m super excited about it. It’s a duet, (2 connected stories in one book) and while the first novella in it is a reprint of my previously pubbed novella THE DEVIL INSIDE, the second story is completely new, and way more paranormal with gypsies, demons and gateways to hell….and suspense. I had a blast wrtiting it.

While logic might say if readers love the ones I think suck when I write them, they might hate the ones I thoroughly loved while I was writing them….I’m going to assume logic has no place here. I also loved my sci fi shorts Abduction and Transplant while I was writing them, as well as BOUND and many other stories. I’m going to assume that there are just times when our insecurites get the best of us. And I’m going to do my best to crush those insecurites any time they pop into myhead again - because I do like writing, and I’m not going to stop.

More reviews for TROUBLE.

4.5 Stars from JERR! I love it!!
Trouble was a rollicking adventure of a romance. It has chaos, comedy and moxie from start to finish. The storyline is terrific, the flow and pace of the tale is quick, light and keeps you reading. Ms. White’s characters are well-rounded, sparkling and very normal people you can easily identify with. Samair is a terrific female lead; she was living life but not living her dream and when circumstances bite her in the butt, she bites back and takes control! Life has had a few knocks for Valentine as well and he is determined to come out of the fight on top. Their romance starts off with a bang and never slacks off throughout the entire story. The sex scenes are hot and worth bringing your toys out for; there are hints of past F/F passion but all of the action is M/F. There are unusual place scenes, a ménage scene and some additional light kinks—all hot, sensual and satisfying. Trouble was a terrific read that I really enjoyed and recommend. ~ Sandi Potterton, Just Erotic Romance Reviews

“Ms. White has penned a story that is unabashedly erotic, but is also well-rounded with a good plot and interesting characters who make it enjoyable through and through.” ~ Phillipa Anna RRTerotic.com

“In a market flooded with erotic romance Sasha White easily stands out among the crowd. … Filled with emotion, passion, raw sexuality and wit, I doubt anyone will have any TROUBLE devouring this steamy read.”- 5 Kisses, Romance Divas

News Friday

First off, for the month of June, starting today, I’m going to be doing a giveaway here on the blog every Friday. So be sure to drop by and check things out, you might win something!!

Second, I heard the nasty rumor that Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was cancelled, and I’m heartbroken. Seriously people, it’s a great show. I love the characters, the actors and the humor that somehow still manages to be a drama. If you haven’t seen this show..give it a try. (You can watch past episodes on the internet…just follow the link above) If you HAVE seen it, watch it again. Yes, I’m trolling for people to watch and support it because I am still holding out hope that it won’t get cancelled! So, please support it, even if it’s just as a favor to me.

Trouble releases in two months (and is available for pre-order right now) so I want to talk about it for a minute. Samair, the heroine, is very briefly in Watch Me, My story in Kink, as a salesgirl in the womens clothing botique. Trouble starts off with her having just decided to change her life. Samair decides she’s tired of trying to be someone she feels she isn’t, and doing a job that doesn’t satisfy her passion. So she decides to go after her dream, and start up her own design lable. And she’s designing lingerie, among other things.

So..for my Friday Giveaway this week, tell me in the comments what your dream job is, and if you’re doing it. If you’re not doing it, would you drop everything and go for it if you were given the change?

I’ll draw a winner from the comments tomorrow. The Prize? A $25 Gift Certificate for Amazon.com.
