Where does the time go?

Where does the time go?

Seriously? How is it almost the end of Feb? I’m so behind in everything I had planned to do. I don’t get why this keeps happening to me. I mean, I used to always be on time, in everything. Is it age? Is it that the older I get the faster time passes? That’s my theory. What do you think?

I wanted to have Carnal written and out to reviewers by last week. Well, I’m still on freaking Chapter 1! So much for the theory that outlining helps you write faster. I have an outline, and that’s it. Nope, time to stop thinking and planning, and get writing. Problem is I leave early tomorrow A.M. for San Antonio and the Wild Wicked Weekend event, and I have lots of things planned for my time there. So, new plan…..when I’m not doing specific things I planned with my readers I’ll be sitting with my laptop, writing….maybe in the bar area….if you’re there, drop by and kick my butt to write faster and see if you can get a sneak peek at CARNAL.

Still aiming to release CARNAL in March, but maybe not March 16th… LOL

I’ve found that the older I get, the more I seem to procrastinate on “from scratch” tasks. I check rote and routine things off the list in a timely manner with no trouble (most of the time), but if there is a certain amount of inertia that needs to be overcome to get something started….I struggle.

As for time passing more quickly, I think the neuroscience/psychology crowd has determined that the perception of time passing more quickly as we age is 100% true and nearly universally experienced. It has to do with frame of reference. When we’re young, we have experienced far less time, so time-related things (semesters, summer vacation, even weekends) feel longer. As we age our frame of reference regarding time expands so, comparatively-speaking, those same things feel shorter, over faster, etc.

I’m not too good at butt-kicking (if you aren’t one of my students), but I’ll be sure to offer gentle encouragements this weekend. 😉
