Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

I spent the last couple of days bouncing between being a complete couch potato and doing some major spring cleaning -mental and physical.

Yes, I said Spring Clenaing, and yes, I am aware that it’s now June. However, we had snow less than a month ago, and I still had to scrape the ice off my windshield when I left work less than 2 weeks ago…so in my mind, June is spring. July and August are summer. 🙂

Back to my being a couch potato. I watched The Wrestler (don’t bother), Hard Rain (an oldie but a goodie), Paul Blart: Mall Cop. (I enjoyed it.) and The 40 Year Old Virgin. (Yes, it’s taken me this long to watch that one.)

I also did some reading. On Vivi Anna’s say so I picked up Magic Burns, the sequel to Magic Bites. Once again I have mixed feelings about it. But now I think I know why. I love the character Kate Daniels. She’s tough, smart, and truly kick ass. I’m still not a huge fan of the world or the actual stories. A big part of that is that I’ve read 2 books in the series now and I still don’t know what Kate’s “Big Secret” is. It’s not something that’s drawing me back as a reader. I don’t have to read the next book because I want to know what it is. It annoys me that there’s all this hinting about her heritage and her blood and her power…and the author hasn’t clued the reader in yet. What might tempt me into getting the third book was the last page of Magic Burns. The way Curran, King of The Beasts, psychs her out. It’s their relationship that might bring me back.

I also read Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs. As usual, I enjoyed it. I fought the urge to buy the hardcover. I really id. Not because I didn’t want to spend the money, but because the hardcover won’t fit on my bookshelf with the other Mercy books. LOL But I couldn’t hack it. I knew I was reading and relaxing and I just HAD to have the book. It was worth it. I just love Mercy and the whole cast of characters in that series. Have to say, I think Mercy’s Mom should make more appearances. LOL

I read a couple of other books as well, butsadly, they’re not sticking in my mind right now, so I’ve got nothing to say about them.

As for the Spring Cleaning. Well, I packed up a few things, garbaged a few things, and will be dropping some more things off at the Goodwill center. I made plans to repaint my whole place in July, and also to (hopefully) get new laminate flooring in. The flooring will depend on if I can bribe some guys from work to do the instal for me.

Mental Spring cleaning is all about what I want to write, what do I want from my career. That sort of shit. I know I know, these are repeating issues for me, but that’s because I feel like I still haven’t found the right answer. Good answers, good options…but not the right one. I’m close though. 🙂

So thats how my June has started…how about yours?
