That’s How It’s Done.

I was worried that went I went to see STAR TREK I’d be disappointed. Not only because movies based on old television series never seem to contain the magic of the originals – be it because memories are better than reality, or simply because it’s almost impossible to recreate something that was a hit – but because of the hype.

Everyone I know that’s seen the movie has raved about how incredibly wonderful it was. Early reviews of the new STAR TREK movie have all been over the top fabulous. How director J.J. Abrams rocks and that the movie was all they’d hoped for, and more. Raves and praise tend to raise my expectations, which can lead to disappointment. So I was worried… But you know what? I was not disappointed. In fact, you have to add my over the top rave review of this movie to all the others out there. The new ST movie is a more than a remake of the series, it’s a tribute. And yet, it didn’t make me feel nostalgic in a any way, instead it filled me with excitement for the duration of the movie, and anticipation for more to come.

The characters were established quickly and easily, the storyline grabbed you by the heart immediately, and the acting was not only top notch, but it was obvious that the actors all felt the magic of what they were doing. They believed in their project, and it came though the screen and touched viewers in a visceral way. Then there’s the fantastic graphics and the sly humor that abounded. There is nothing bad, or even remotely disappointing about that movie and I left the theater thinking “THAT’s The way it’s done!”

Fantastic!

I love this show. I’ve been watching it since the first episode, I have them all on DVD, and this season has been a rollercoaster. They almost lost me for a while, but now, I’d kill to see next weeks episode right now!

I hope the season finale isn’t too much of a clifhanger.

Hands On

Img1304_DSC_0190uhh.jpg

Candlelight cast shadows on the nearby walls, the smell of musk and herbs scenting the air. There was rustling noises nearby and my body tensed, fighting the urge to pull against the leather restraints that held me loving to the bed.

Soft music played, the heavy throbbing beat matching the heat that pulsed through my body as I watched him come closer. The bed shifted as he put one knee on the mattress between my spread feet. He leaned forward, his hands brushing lightly over my bare thighs. My eyes were glued to his face, entranced by the glitter of lust in his eyes. That special gleam that shone brightly whenever I gave him the gift of my submission.

He knew, he could do anything he wished with me, and I’d love him all the more for it. He knew that it drove me wild to have his fingers skim lightly over my hip, up my rib cage… then back. He tickled the inside of my thighs. He leaned forward and breathed on me. His hot breath heating my sex until it melted and my juices were leaking steadily. Shifting again, he laid his hands flat on my hips, placed his chin on my pubic bone, and met my eyes. “All mine,” he said softly.

His hands moved, the calluses on his palms scrapping against my soft skin as he took the torturous route over my belly, until his fingertips just brushed the underside of my breast. A thrill ran down my spine, my nipples throbbed, aching. I bit my lip, not ready to beg… yet.

Online Workshop

I’ve been asked to teach an online workshop at Romance Divas for their Not Going to Conference session. I’d like to do one, because I love RD, but I don’t know what to do a workshop on.

Writing Hot has been done so many times before. I’ve done workshops on The Erotic Market and Writing Short. Last year I did my workshop on Voice here on my blog, and I’m at a loss for a topic for this year. So, what would YOU like to see me do a workshop on ?

33772447Cursed by God, hunted by demons, desired by Cain and Abel… All in a day’s work.
For Evangeline Hollis, a long-ago fling with a bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks just became a disaster of biblical proportions. One night with a leather-clad man of mystery has led to a divine punishment: the Mark of Cain.
Thrust into a world where sinners are drafted to kill demons, Eve knows her learning curve must be short. A longtime agnostic, she begrudgingly maneuvers through a celestial bureaucracy where she is a valuable but ill-treated pawn. She’s also become the latest point of contention in the oldest case of sibling rivalry in history…
But she’ll worry about all that later. Right now she’s more concerned with learning to kill while staying alive. And saving the soul she’d never quite believed she had
.

This is my official Blurb review of Eve of Darkness:

Day lets her imagination free with an Urban Adventure that is not only fast-paced, but erotic, and addictive.

This book has layers that mean you should take your time with it, yet, that’s hard to do because there is so much fast action, I just wanted to read and find out what was going to happen next. So, it’s become a book I’ll re-read time and time again, and love it a bit more each time. I can’t wait for more Eve.

I’ve known Sylvia for a number of years, and I’ve always enjoyed her writing. But in her new incarnation as S.J. Day, I have to say… I Love it. There are many ‘kick ass’ heroines out there, but I think Eve is on her way to topping them all. This first book is just the beginning, and I’m ready for more. Thank God they next 2 books release in June and July!!
