Just a heads up, I’ll be back to blogging regularly after January 1st, but for today, if you want, you can visit me over at the Novelist Inc blog, where I wrote about Doing It My Way.

Okay, so I’m not completely away…but I did mention I’d do some Slim Camp holiday Treat tips.
Here’s what I made for CHristmas Baking this year.
I found both recipe’s here and tweaked them a bit:
Cornflake Wreaths
1/2 cup butter
3 cups miniature marshmallows
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp green food color
4 cups corn flakes
red hot candies
silver dragéesMelt butter, add marshmallows, stirring until all marshmallows are melted. Add extracts and food coloring; stir until it is a uniform green color. When mixture is smooth, add corn flakes; mix well but gently so as not to crush the cornflakes. Form into wreath shapes on sheets of waxed paper, decorate with red cinnamon candies and silver dragées. Let cool.
Now, I used Hot tamales instead of Red Hots, (I like the chewyness, plus I found them in the dollar store. *grin*) I also used regular sprinkles instead of silver dragees. They’re smaller, and in my mind that meant less sugar. *shrug*
Next up was:
Chewy Chocolate Eatmore bars
3/4 cup honey
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1-1/2 cups mini marshmallows
3 cups rice krispies
1 cup salted peanutsIn a large saucepan over medium heat, melt together the honey and peanut butter and bring to a boil. Stir in chocolate chips and marshmallows, stirring until smooth. Add the cereal and peanuts. Blend well and remove from heat. Pour into a lightly greased 9×13 inch pan and pat firmly with spatula. Let cool slightly and cut into bars before hardening.
I used all natural honey, and low fat peanut butter. I made one batch with rice krispies (like the recipe calls for) and one batch with just peanuts, no cereal.
These are not “low calorie” recipes. but I like them because they don’t have any added sugar (Yes, the have honey and marshmallow, but hey, it’s not that bad) Plus, peanut butter, and peanuts are protein, and I used bran flakes for the cornflakes. (Nobody can tell by taste, because you also have almond extract, and they’re supposed to taste nutty and such.)
So, Tastey, somewhat healthy treats for the holiday season that are easy to make, and use minimal dishes.
Happy Holidays!
PS: If you want to see me, I’m over at Novel Thoughts Today
OKay, so I said I wouldn’t be back until the new year, I had to come back to share this link.

Happy Holidays!!
Just a heads up note to y’all, that I’m pulling back from blogging until January.
I’ve had this blog for almost 5 years now since I started writing, and while I love it, I am feeling the need to back away for a while. I’m hoping that the next couple of weeks off will be enough, and I’ll be back in January with much energy and spirit.
You’ll still be able to find me chatting on the always fun WICKED WRITERS CHAT LOOP. If you haven’t joined, you should! Just tell them I sent you.
Also, guest bloggingon the 13th of December at Jennifer’s Random Musing…where PRIMAL MALE is their Book of the Month for December. You read PRIMAL MALE, and on December 30: they will be holding a Discussion of the book where you can share your thoughts, and ask questions.
December 23: I’ll be at the Aphrodisia blog
December 29: I’ll be at the NINC blog.
If you want some Holiday Slim Camp Tips, i’ll put them up as a final post for the month late tonight or early tomorrow.
Have a great holiday season, and I hope to see you around the web, and back here in January!

My Prerogative is a Recommended Read at Joyfully Reviewed.
“Sasha White has soared to the top of my to-buy list. My Prerogative is a highly-charged sexual romp that doesn’t skimp on the emotions. The characters are so real that I felt as if they were part of my circle of friends, and I liked them.”
And Rista Tompkins at The Romance Readers Connection had this to say: “This was a fabulous story! There was foreplay between the characters, which always livens up the expectations of readers but is often lacking in erotica novels. The characters were believable, and utterly suited for one another. And Sasha White’s writing style made this reader wish the novel would never end. Definitely an erotic novel to keep on your shelf!”
Lynn Veihl’s eSpecial Master Of Shadows is releasing today, and if you get it before January 6th, it’s only $2.99! You can read more about this exciting story of the Darkyn here…
I’m a writer who does actually use things I’ve seen , done or heard about in my stories. And as a waitress /bartender for almost 20 years, that covers a lot of ground.
Yet, I’ve never written a book on waitressing. The idea has played in the back of my mind for a few years, usually when I’m at work and getting frustrated with customers who are clueless. I’m thinking something along the lines of How to be a reasonable customer for Dummies might be a good thing.
Tips would include things like: ~ Look around you. If the place is full, and you only see one waitress, try to have a bit of patience.
~ When the server repeats your order to you, Listen! There is a reason why they do it…so they make sure they heard you correctly and order the right thing!
~ Read the menu. If you have an allergy to tomatoes, and the Taco Salad says it has tomatoes, then ask for no tomatoes. Don’t order it, then try to blame me for not being psychic enough to know about your allergy.
Then again, the people who need to read that sort of book probably wouldn’t because they are so clueless they already think they’re great.
So maybe something like The Waitress Diaries, or Tales from the Kitchen (except I’m not a cook, but Tales from the Service Area doesn’t have the same ring to it.)
Those are non-fiction ideas. I could go the fiction route and creat a character and give her many many of my, and others, experiences, btu I’m not sure if that would interest people.
Who knows, just thought I’d throw it out there.
Warning, this post is not typical of me. I share plenty of myself with my readers, and the world in general, but I tend to keep my politics to myself. You might occasionally see me talk about religion or spirituality, but politics…this post is a first in the 4 years since I’ve started this blog.
Normally I’m proud to be Canadian, but right now I can’t do it. I’m ashamed of the circus that our political arena has become. The Liberals and the NDP have decided that since their efforts to get Steven Harper out of office with an early vote didn’t work, that they’re going to form a Coalition goverment, and take over.
Basically what is happening is that neither of the bullies in the schoolyard could take out Harper on their own, so they’ve come together and formed a gang to get the job done. And it’s bullshit.
All this Coalition is doing is scaring Canadians and showing us that Harper and his party are the right ones to run the country right now. Do they really think that throwing a tantrum because they lost is going to make them look strong enough and smart enough to run a country in this economy? The Vancouver Sun quoted a survey done exclusively for Canwest News Service and Global National and states that “Fully 60 per cent of those interviewed said they opposed replacing the government with Liberal-NDP coalition supported by the Bloc Quebecois, compared with 37 per cent who favoured the idea. Support for the coalition was highest in Quebec at 50 per cent, followed by 44 per cent in Atlantic Canada.”
Even in Quebec, the province who almost separated from the rest of Canada a few years ago, support for this coalition was only 50%. What does that tell you?
In a letter to the editor of the Montreal Gazette, Christina Bedard-Neocleous of Brossard, summed it it up perfectly when she wrote: “I have no love for Mr. Stephen Harper, but there is no way that I will ever support this craziness called the Canadian Coalition. No way! “
Canada is a democracy. There was a vote. You lost. Don’t try to run roughshod over the voters that make up this country, and don’t try to pretend this is what we want. We, as a people, want to live in a country where our vote counts. If people don’t like the goverment that won the election fair and square, then maybe they’ll get out and vote at the next one. That’s how this country is supposed to work.
The actions the NDP and Liberal leaders are employing are nothing more than bully tactics, and they should be ashamed. My advice to the so called Canadian Coilition: Suck it up and act like adults.
The holidays are coming up fast, and that means goodies galore!
What are you going to do about it?
Me? i don’t plan on complete denial, but I am going to try and stay away from the cookies and chocolates. For me that means my snaking takes a more healthy bent, things like Chips and Salsa and guacomole. Fresh Veggies and Hummus. Yes, I love me some hummus. These are thigns that people often think are bad for them, and they can be if you go overboard, but they are considered healthy snaks. Especially if you make them yoursel instead of relying on store bought.
Now, I have a Magic Bullet. It is Fantastic for this sort of thing.
Then I stock up on the basics.
Cherry tomatoes
Green peppers
Jalepno Peppers
Garlic
Onion
Lemons or limes
Then there’s Avocodoes and Cans of Chick Peas
Really, that’s all you need. And some spices. Salt and pepper do it for me, sometims I add chili pepper flakes, depending on my mood. *g*
Just sort of throw it all in the bullet and blend it up. *g*
These are my recipes:
Salsa:
Blend Cherry Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Onions, Garlic, and Jalepenos togheter. Pour mixture into a bowl, then squeeze a lenmon in, add salt, pepper, and fresh chopped cilantro and stir.
Hummus:
1 can of strained and rinsed chick peas, fresh garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. (Sometimes I add chili peppers) The spices and lemons and garlic are flavored to your choice. Personally, I like alot of Garlic. LOL
Guac:
WHile you can easily do this inthe Magic Bullet blender, I like to do it by hand becasue I liek my Guacamole chunky. LOL
1 Avocado, halved and mushed in a bowl with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Dice a garlic or two, chop up 5 or 6 Cherry tomatoes, and some onion and cilantro. Add and mix together. Some people like way more tomato, some like less.
The best thing about these dips is that when you make them yourself not only can you control the ingredients for flavour, but for health content as well. They’re fresh, and healthy. (I use Half Salt in everything instead of real salt, it’s same flavor but less sodium)

Nothing much going on around here for me. Just getting CHristmas presents made, and cleaning house. By Cleaning house I mean hauling boxes of books to the library for donation, and trying to make my condo look somewhat normal.
I joined a new gym last week, and went in on the weekend. It’s great, so close to home. I was hoping to go this morning but life happens and I’m putting it off for one more day. Then it’ll be to the gym every morning. Yes. Every morning. I might give myself weekends off , we’ll see how it goes. BUt I need to get back into the habit, and that means doing it.
I’m alos going to start organizing my writing stuff, that means you should look for some website changes/updates. Not sure yet, I just feel like it’s time to do some things. I spoke with Angie, my Samhain editor about a project I’ve had in mind for a long time now. It’s something I mentioned to her in person when I had lunch with her in Pittsburgh at the RT conference last year, but I never got around to starting. If I can get my ass in gear and follow the plan we mapped out, there will be some things to make you happy in the new year. That’s all I’m saying for now. *grin*
Don’t forget, if you commented on RED below, to check and see if you’re the winner!
