I’m debating on giving away Scarlet, who I adopted almost three months ago. (Read about it here)
I love her, she’s so beautiful, and smart and fast. She rips through the apartment and “hunts” anything that moves. She sleeps right next to my computer while I write, and curls up on my chest and purrs and butts her nose against mine while I watch TV. BUT, her and Mystery (the cat I’ve had for just over 4 years) don’t always get along.
And I’m worried that when the weather gets nicer she’s going to go real stir crazy.
See, she was a stray, and as much as my nice warm apartment and loving arms make her happy, I think a farm with 17 dogs and one other cat will make her happier. The lady who wants her is a dog lover, but her husband is a cat lover. They show the dogs and breed them, and have 60 acres, a heated barn, and lots of mice for Scarlet to hunt. They said she’ll be indoor and outdoor, and very loved. And I believe them.
As much as *I* will miss her, and want to keep her, I wonder if both she and Mystery would be happier with a new arrangement. *sigh* I adopted her because she’s had a hard life and I wanted to help her have a better one, and as much as I love her, I wonder if she’ll be happier where she can run around outside, but still come in and cuddle with people when she wants…as opposed to be stuck in my 2 bedroom apartment and never allowed outside again.
You can read more about both my girls here if you want.
