One thing you can do to help out your iBook is to rebuild the desktop. It's an old Mac solution to a sluggish hard drive. Hold down the Option and Apple (alt) keys while restarting the computer. Before your normal desktop appears, a dialog box will come up asking you if you want to rebuild the desktop file. Click OK and let it do it's thing. What it's doing is clearing away all of the fragments of deleted files that have been left behind on the hard drive. Congratulations on the new computer.
