Harry Potter Movie Night

A friend emailed yesterday about a midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenex. Of course I was in!

I just got home and wanted to talk abtou how enjoyable the night was. Besides us adults, there were 4 kids, and although I’m not usually a huge fan of kids, I have to say, these kids rocked! They were lively and entertaining while we waited for the movie, and quiet and engrossed in the movie during the movie! In fact, haveing them there made the movie that much more enjoyable.

As for a review of the movie: It was great.
They actually edited out very little from the book, although there were a few subtle changes, it wasn’t anything that made you think “Hey, what happened to so and so. It was in the book!”

I adored Luna’s character. She played it perfectly, and Ginny’s bit of kick of power was shown as well. Delores Umbridge was perfectly creepy, and Harry himself was as good as ever. All the regular players were there, and a few creatures too.

If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, you’re sure to enjoy the latest movie instalment. Now I can’t wait for the next book! I’ve already pre-ordered mine.

Time to Kick Ass

SvenSaysSweat

70 Days of Sweat

Brava author Alison Kent and some others have initiated a writing challenge, and I am in! It’s perfect timing.

The goal? Write a single title novel in 70 days. I love it!

As Alison says:

Say you’re writing a 100,000 word single title. 70 days at 1500 words per day (approx 6 pages) is 98,000 words total. Say you’re writing a 60,000 word series romance. 70 days at 900 words per day (approx 4 pages) is 63,000 words total. Writing 4 - 6 pages every day for 70 days is a schedule anyone who calls themselves a pro can handle easily!

I just heard about this today, so I’m a day late/behind..but hey, My book is only 90k so I’m still good. :)

Okay, my book:
ASK EVE, a 90k single title erotic romance featuring Eve Samson , a Vancouver advice columnist who sometimes has trouble following her own advice, and the men who help, and hinder her.

Once a week I’ll post what I have left to write. :)
Starting now, Uhmm, I have 89k left.

Okay, On a more personal note for all of this. Most of you who are regular visitors here know I’ve sorta been struggling lately. And Yes, I still am. Stephanie Tyler talks about Wanting It Here and her post reminds me of the passion and drive I had just a couple of years ago. I’m a big believer in “If you want it, go get it.” and I’ve always gone after everything I’ve ever wanted - and gotten almost all of it. I’ve been very blessed in my life, but at the same time, I still feel a little lost at times.

Why? Because what if I’m not sure what it is that I want anymore?

I mean, sure I can go after whatever I want, and get it, but … without direction, where does the drive and passion go? I can tell you right now, my drive and passion - for a lot of things - has disappeared. I’m hoping the “Just Do It” part of my mentality will kick start my passion again. And no, this isn’t only about writing for me. It’s about every aspect of my life. Health, writing, work, travel, family, romance. It’s about finding out what’s next for me, and what exactly I want.

So, I’m hoping that by focusing on one aspect , and bringing the passion back into my work/writing, that the fire will start to burn inside me again. The fire for everything.

Wee Whooo!

I went and saw Transformers, and highly reccomend it!!

It was awesome, fan-frick’n-tastic!
The acting was great, the actors perfectly fitting each part, and it even made me laugh out loud at times.

There were a few over the top cheesy lines about courage and such… but it was too be expected, and they weren’t so many they made the whole movie cheesy. Make sense?

Ahhh, even if it doesn’t make sense…go see it!

Got to work today, and send some things off inteh post office. Edits for WICKED have arrived and while my editor didn’t ask for any revisions, I see so much I want to tweak. It tends to happen when I haven’t looked at something I wrote for a few months. Which is why , like most authors, I don’t read my stories once they’ve been published.

Refilling.

I’ve been “refilling the well” lately. Y’know, reading, going to movies. having a life. And the whole time story ideas simmer in the back of my mind. But, it’s July now, and it;’s time to make those ideas leave my mind for the pages of a story. Getting back into writing after time off is hell, but once I’m back in, it’ll be golden.

My one last visit to the well today?? Going to see TRANSFORMERS!! I can’t wait!

I love action shows. Live Free or Die Hard was great too. I’m a huge Bruce Fan, and he never let me down. For books, I’ve read so many lately that I can’t even remember which ones where which. They were all mostly enjoyable, but none stood out. That’s not so great, is it?

Well, for me it’s motivating. Because I don’t ever want any of my stories to NOT stand out. So the simmering stories were turned up a notch.

Let’s Play a writing game

For yesterdays post I put up a Superheroine quiz. Take the quiz, then join the party by continuing this post in the somments. Let’s see who knows how to Party.

If you’re ‘heroine’ is already at the party - for example…I see a couple of Buffy’s- then feel free to create you’re own Name and character.

So…Elektra walks into this bar, and without speaking or looking at anyone, heads straight for the corner table where Trinity is already seated. The bar was dark and dingy, just the kind of bar where a group of friends could go to relax and let off some steam.

“Glad to see you made it, Elektra,” Trinity said, using her foot to push the chair across from her out for the newcomer. Before Elektra’s butt hit the seat, Trinity’d filled two shot glasses from the bottle of Tequila in the middle of the table. “Have a drink.”

The waiter stops at thier table, not bothering to hide the gleam of anticapation in his eye. “Ladies, how may I be of service to you tonight?”
