:batman: Hate to buck the system, but I Iove, love, love The Dixie Chicks. I am by no means a country music lover. It takes a lot of moxie to take that polical stand, however, and for them to tell it like they think it is? COURAGE is a word I use when I talk about them. So what if I don't like to hear a banjo - their harmony is sweet.

It helps that they record their music at a friend's studio. And that I don't judge them for what they think. "Wide Open Spaces" is an awesome song (written by Susan Gibson). I say let people be who they are, and let the correctness police get in line behind the other PO'd folks.

Me? I'll be hanging out with the fun crowd...

I enjoy the Dixie Chicks and I know that eventually I'll be buying the CD. I love the way they sound.

The whole controversy just boggles my mind. I notice that many (not all so please don't jump on me and attack .... well actually attack away *g* I'm good at ignoring LOL) Americans TALK all about their rights to free speech ... but I wonder about the truth to that right. As soon as someone says something like this a mob goes after them.

I've deleted many things here *g* So many thoughts going through the brain and so much difficulty filtering them so they make sense without me sounding like a right royal bitch. I'll stop now. (I'm shaking my head in wonder at the stupidity of it though)

For me, it was the way the said it on teh taping of the concert. It showed the concert video of her saying what she said, and it looked like a casual thing. Not like she was trying to make a huge statement, but it looked like exactly what she said it was. Them trying to show that even though they're there to perform, that their mind is on, and they do care about what was going on in the world.
And while I also think that anyone and everyone has the right to disagree, or boycott them, Some of the video clips and levels of violence seemed a bit much. I'm hoping the documentary will show a more clear picture. But really, I guess it depends on who made the movie.

Personally, I can't stand the Dixie Chicks. I didn't like them BEFORE the controversy. I'm all for speaking up, but I haven't been impressed with how they've gone about it, so now I like them even less...
