Dear Cupid,
I’ve tried very hard to be patient. I waited until I was almost 30 before I called for you the first time. I’ve done my best to try not to be a pest. I’ve searched and searched, and moved on and around. I’ve tested and tried but have had no success.
My life is good, I know I’ve got more than most, but it feels so very empty, almost like I’m a ghost.
I’ve a big heart and lots of love to give, will you please, once and for all, just answer my call?
Update:
Tom mentioned in the comments that my letter to Cupid should be turned into a poem. I suck at poetry so I told him to go for it, and he did. This is what he wrote…and I absolutely love it!!!
Letter to Cupid
Despite the nights spent in sparkling conversation,
Despite the trips that span the globe and fill the soul with inspiration.
Despite passionate friendships showered with laughter and tears,
Despite it all,
There is an emptiness.
Thirty years spent well and full, have not filled this place
That yearns and cries for warmth and searches, yes searches
For that match that heats the body and the soul both
To a flaming pitch.
And so it is that tonight, instead of writing of love,
Or imagining, or dreaming, I find myself here at my window,
Gazing at the cold starry sky, calling for you, and bear my chest
Pleading for the arrow, the pain, and the potion.
Thanks, Tom!

Hi Sasha,
by Melanie August 23rd, 2006 at 8:01 pmGreat drawing, I like the poem too. Somethimes I feel like that too. I like to think it’s never to late.
That note should be turned into a poem. If you don’t, I might!
(BTW, a friend sent me over here, said you might be a person I’d enjoy getting to know, blogreadingwise. From what I read, you are one fascinating person. I love it when my friends are right.)

by Tom Atkins August 23rd, 2006 at 10:08 pmHey Melanie. It is an awesome drawing isn’t it? I was thinking of buying a print of it.
Hi Tom, Thanks for stopping by. And for the compliment.
by Sasha August 24th, 2006 at 12:10 amI did think about making the letter apoem, but I suck at poetry.
Feel free to play with it, just let me see what you come up with. It might become my mantra.
Oh hon, you’re gonna make me cry.
Can we share the mantra?

Sasha,
Not to worry - you are awesome and have so much to offer that there is no doubt your soul mate will come for you and probably when you least expect it or give up on it.
That picture is definitely inspiring and creates positive thoughts. The poem is good as well. Keep smilin’!!

by Debbie E August 24th, 2006 at 1:10 pmVery cool! I do love a man with a gift for words ;-) (among other things, of course!) And wowsers, I never saw a Cupid that looked _quite_ like that. I can DIG it!!
Deir’
by Deirdre O'Dare August 24th, 2006 at 4:59 pmI really like the picture and the poem. And I agree with Debbie, love will hit you when you least expect it. Don’t you hate people telling you that?
You do bring pleasure to a lot of people, though.
Thanks,
Pam G
