I write this on Saturday late night…I’ll update aboutt he MS WALK later. :)
So Friday night work gin the bar was eventful as usual. This time there was no hockey game, but YAY OILERS ~ they closed out the series last night and made it to the Finals!!! ~ Eh Hmm.. Sorry about that..back to my story from Friday night. So Friday was a nice steady night. No bitchy customers, some nice guys to flirt with, people having a good time and making some money at it. Then just before last call a couple came in that my manager said could barely walk (I didnÃt actually see them walk in as I was with a different table)
It was young couple, when I went over to them they were all over each other. They had a bit of attitude, by young I mean very young..as in remember in Alberta the legal drinking age is 18, and these two were questionable. When I was talking to them it was apparent they were a bit drunk, I didnÃt bother Id’ing them because I just told them I wasnÃt going to server them. I felt they were to drunk. Shit it was half an hour until close and they were young and full of attitude. I didnÃt want to deal with them, and luckily, I didnÃt have to. SO I thought they left. Apparently they just made a trip to the ladies room. The one toiled wheelchair size room. Uh huh..You see where this is going? Young, horny, full-of attitude drunk 18 year olds in a big empty washroom. Well, I can tell you I think IÃve solidly lost my reputation as the biggest bitch to be scared of in our place. You see, these kids messed up the ladies room. Whether they just got carried away screwing around, or did it maliciously because weÃd refused to serve them, who knows? But T, the manager on duty saw them both come out of the ladies room and run. Bu they left behind a cell phone, and when they came back to get it, and pretend it wasnÃt them that had trashed our bathroom, T called the cops and had them charged with Mischief. LOL See, now me, I’d probably have scared the shit out of them myself, threatened to cal the cops, made them pay for it to be fixed. But she actually did charge them.
This made me laugh. Not that the whole thing was funny, but it was funny to me because it made me so glad that I’m not a manager anymore. As a simple bartender, it wasn’t up to me to deal with it. I enjoyed that. :D
Today was just supposed to be the day to was the Hockey game, but when walking past the movie theatre I smelled popcorn, so we went to see The DaVinci Code. Now, I haven’t read the book, but I did enjoy the movie. Even though I figured out what the secret was right away, I was wrong in my first choice for who the Teacher was. It was enjoyable, but not a movie IÃm willing to rave about.
Next up for movie is X-Men!!
I should be in bed right now, sleeping, since I have to be up early to do the walk for MS at 8:30 in the morning. But, IÃm always awake at night and it’ s time to catch up on some things, like blogging.
The other thing I’m catching up on is the June issue of Secret Thoughts. It should be up on the first of the month, so if you haven’t signed up yet now is your chance. If you do it in the next day or two, thereÃs still a chance you could win the free Blog design my wonderfully talented web mistress is giving away. But you have to become a Secret Thoughts member to find out how.
Don’t forget you also get free reads and articles and such on there too. So check it out! You can find it under the EXTRAS Button on my toolbar.
“The Crib” by Sasha White is an explosive, edgy tale with a strong heroine who knows what she wants and goes after it. Lexy is a volatile woman who worms her way into a reader’s heart as she searches for the answers to clear the name of someone she loves and overcomes a painful past. Her determination and grit in this story is written at the strong hand of a strong writer. Only a writer, sure of herself and her pen, could write a character such as Lexy, as well as in the first person, and pull it off superbly.
“The Crib” is sexy, raw and intriguing. Devon and Lexy set the pages on fire and leave the reader wanting more. I hope to see these characters again in the future, working together and spending time in one another’s arms. They’re characters who are memorable, as is the author’s voice. “

Reviews for The Crib and PURE SEX are starting to trickle in…and it’s good timing I think too because there’s a discussion going on over at Dear Author about marketing and HEA and how Aphrodisia is categorized as Erotic Romance, but not all it’s stories have Happily Ever Afters.
This does concern me a small amount because The Crib does not have a traditional romantic Happily Ever After ending. However, I think the ending is a Happy one and is perfect for the story. It also leaves me room to continue with the characters, who I love.
Despite the lack of a traditional HEA I’m so happy to say that many romance readers have great things to say about The Crib.
Even Romance reader Megan, say’s “A thrilling murder mystery wrapped around some sizzling hot sex”. And in her review she comments on the ending. You can read her full review of PURE SEX HERE.
Romance Diva’s reviewer says:
“The Crib is dark, gritty and racked with tension… Tight prose with just a razor edge of noir sensibility. Excellent.”
She also gave the anthology 4.5 kisses and says…“While all three stories are well done, I felt Ms. White’s material didn’t fit the light, playful tone of the other two and would have been better placed by an editor, in another, darker anthology or been lengthened to fit the format of a single title release.”
Is that Bad? I don’t think so. I think anthologies should offer a bit of variety and a sample of each authors style. Some Anthologies are themed, PURE SEX isn’t. The theme for PURE SEX is just that, sexy erotic stories.
USA Today best selling romance author Julie Leto has read THE CRIB abd says...”Authentic and compelling…Raw when it needs to be, romantic and sensual when it needs to be. Sasha White is a writer to watch!”
Kristi Ahlers who reviewed PURE SEX for the Romantic Tiomes BookClub says of THE CRIB…“This is a raw and sensual story. Lexy is not your average heroine, and Devon is more than her match.” and of PURE SEX in general..”The title says it all! This steamy anthology has three unique stories with different levels of heat. ”
I understand that some people can get confused by a lable on a spine…but at the same time I wonder if it really is such a big deal? So while The book is labled erotic romance, I think that if someone looks at the title of the anthology, the cover, and even the reviews, they should have a pretty good idea of what they are getting.
It’s my understanding that readers buy authors, not lines. (except maybe category romance readers and Har Blaze ort Intrigue and such) Do you, as a reader, really examine the spine of each book you purchase to see if it’s labeled erotica or erotic romance or romance? Or do you go by the cover and the blurb for it? As well as reviews and word of mouth. Just how big of a deal is the Lable ? Does it cancel out everything else?
One reason to not sleep naked.

Todays Post is about flirting…and it’s over at the Allure Authors blog. Come say Hi and let me knwo what gets your juices flowing. ;)
Julie Leto has a great post on her Marisela blog about the “rules” of writing.
This is a hot button for me because I myself have no education or courses geared toward writing. I took a correspondence course on how to SELL my writing, but it didn’t teach me anything about writing other than how to research markets and find places to sell what I wanted to write.
As far as writing itself…for me, it’s always been sit my ass in a chair and write. that’s all there is to it.
I have no rules. My main goal/rule for my own writing is get rid of what’s not needed. I absolutely hate it when I skim a story, so I try my hardest when writing to make sure there is nothing to skim in my own stories.
When I started writing, I didn’t know any writers. I wasn’t connnected to the internet in any way other than Hotmail, and now, I think that was a good thing. I’m lucky in the way that when I started writing I was published right away. Short stories. I didn’t know a thing about technique or GMC or conflict. I’d never even heard of those terms!
When I decided to try novel writing, and learned about eHar and RWA and such, I was lost for a while. I really was.
I was excited to find the eHar community, and through them I learned about RWA and contests. I tried a couple of contests (this is around the time I got my website started up) and I failed miserably in the contests. My submissions were ripped apart for not being realistic in my contemporaries, not having any conflict, and my writing itself. My grammar and my style.
But everything happens for a reason. I met some wonderfully supportive authors on eHar. My friends from the Struggling Writers, authors like Alison Kent who sent me one of her first Bravas to show me that things were heating up, Suzanne McMinn, who is strong and sage with her advice and affirmations, and Julie Leto who has always been an advocate of sticking with your own strength’s and style. The article on Julie’s website about Book of your VOICE is the one that gave me a solid kick in the ass. And one I go back and reread often.
That’s not to say there isn’t a lot to be learned out there, on loops in communities and in writing manuals…however I think Julie says it best here:
“…before you start casting off all those great books out there that might or might not inspire something within you to discover your own voice, stop thinking about every piece of advice you ever receive as a rule. It’s just advice. Geez, you don’t listen to every piece of that you get from your mother, do you? “
Before that I couldn’t understand how I’d had success with short stories (with several publishers) and yet I was apparently doing it all wrong according to the contest Judges and the “rules”. Well, there are no rules. I decided then that the only rule I’d follow is to write a story that interests and intrigues ME, and hope that there are readers out ther that share my taste.
And you know what? There are. ![]()
So aspiring writers, ANY writers, checkout Julie’s blog post and article…and remember that readers just want a good story. They don’t care about the “rules” as some organization sees them.
Yesterday truly was Monday for me. In every sense of the word. I’m grumpy, but I’m going to focus on some good things.
Good thiing number one ~ I’ve lost 9 pounds in a month. :D Not as much as I’d like, but not bad considering part of that time was the tail end of my LUSH deadline when I did nothing but sleep, eat, and write. Sooo, maybe if I start playing softball or biking again soon, it’ll melt off even faster!!!
Good thing number two ~ Erin the not so innocent blogged about GYPSY HEART! She liked it ..she really did!!!
Okay, so she calls herself Erin the innocent I say she’s not so innocent because she enjoys my writing. And we allknwo that I’m not innocent! ![]()
Good thing number three ~ I got an email from the reader who won the ARC of BOUND. She Loved it!! And she wanted to know if I planned to continue it…and that question brought all sorts of story ideas into my head! ![]()
Okay, So that’s three good things for me..what about you??
Something to start the week off right. He’s a little young, but it’s okay…I think I could keep up with him. ;)

Hey hey hey, sorry I’m so late with this but I’ve been enjoying the attentions of a man. (no! not you think…we’ve been cleaning windows!) Oh, ugh…
