Sanctuary

I admit to getting tired of Vamps and Werewolves and such (although I’ll always love witch stories) but when I started Sanctuary by Delilah Devlin I knew I was in for a treat!

This story is fast paced, intrigueing, and erotic!! I was hooked right from the start.

Because Delilah is a fellow Allure Author I have permission to post some great treats from it for you. So read on…

SANCTUARY

In the post-Apocalyptic future, a woman rancher runs a last refuge for human survivors of a nuclear winter in West Texas. When the security of the sanctuary is breached, she must place her trust in one of the creatures freed by perpetual darkness…

Excerpt one:
Her first sight of him told her instinctively here was bigger trouble than she’d already faced. This wasn’t the stupid scum she’d squared off with. He was a hundred times more intimidating.

For one, he was a big man. Taller even then Sam, his wide shoulders and muscled thighs bespoke of years of physical training. In close quarters, he’d be impossible to beat. She squeezed the grip of her weapon harder, already thinking where she’d have to place the first shot to bring him down quick.

The closer he strode, the greater her unease. Not only did he have the size to make her heart leap to the back of her throat, he moved with a rangy grace that said he’d be fast on his feet. His face with its square jaw and sharp cheekbones completed the portrait of an unstoppable man once he’d set his eyes on a target.

Now, she just hoped that dark, hard gaze never rested on her.

While she drew deep breaths to calm her racing heart and the tremor of her hands, an uninvited thought crossed her mind. If she weren’t battling for her life in the middle of an Apocalypse, this would be the sort of man she’d want. Dangerous, brutal—sexy as hell.

But he was dressed in civilian clothes and riding in a military vehicle. Was he just the leader of a smarter band of criminals?

He stopped about twenty paces from the church doors and put his hands on his hips. “Kate McKinnon, are you in there?”

She jerked at the familiar deep tones of his voice. Her startled glance found Shep’s.

His eyes were narrowed in his lined face, and he shook his head. “You know him? Might be some kind a trick.”

“This is Ty Bennett.”

Kate closed her eyes and sank against the wall, feeling like her whole world was spinning out of control. How could this be?

“Kate, the cavalry’s here, sweetheart.”

Watch Me

I love my cp and spirit sister Beth. I sent her a chapter form my WIP last night and she responded with “Wonderful, fantastic, tremendous! I love it - that was hot and intriguing.”

How can I not keep going when I hear things like that?

I mean, I’m all for constructive critisism, and she does give me that too…but sometimes Praise is just the tonic that’s needed.

Now, the WIP is titled WATCH ME, and it’s about a married woman that’s not feeling so attractive to her husband and she discovers that being abit of an exhibitionist makes her feel sexy and desirable again.

I’ve never been married, or even in a serious relationship, but I have definitely had days, weeks and months when I feel completely and utterly unattractive. I’m sure we’ve all had those times. And the thing is, it’s not always to do with looks. It’s all about how you feel.

And on some days, being the sassy bartender and having men lined up on the wood to flirt with while I serve them drinks makes me feel like a Queen. And on other days, Having all those men lined up and fliritng with me makes me wonder why they all flirt, but none ever actually ask me out. Then I start to feel down. The really silly thing is, that even if they did ask me out, there’s only one or two of them that I find attractive enough to say yes to. SO why should it bother me that they don’t ask me out?

Isn’t the female mind a weird thing? I mean, I know this all sounds like complete babble, but I know that some of you have to understand what it is I’m saying here.

Right?
The question is ….When have we crossed the line from looking to how others see us, or our writing, to reassure ourselves of what we already know . . . to making ourselves feel valued.

Excerpt:
I knelt reverently in front of the carved wooden box I’d pulled from the corner of my closet. A tinge of shame echoed in my heart as I realized how long it had been since I’d laid hands on the small chest. How long I’d been denying who, what, I truly am.

My fingertips trembled as they traveled gingerly over the carved symbols on the lid, and a shiver danced through my body. Quickly, before any doubts could seep into my heart, I lifted the lid of the box and reached for what I needed. Everything was just as I’d left it. I began to remove the items from the chest one by one. Soon I was sitting cross-legged in the middle of my bedroom floor, surrounded by 4 candles, -a silver one, a lavender one, a white one and a pale blue one. The colors of the Moon Deities.

Directly in front of me was the covered wooden box, now an altar, with a plain silver goblet filled with white wine, an ebony handled Silver bladed athame that had been handed down through my family, and a quartz crystal. Jasmine incense wafted through the room and I held a crystal in each hand to help me focus.

Ignoring the slight trembling in my stomach, I closed my eyes and concentrated. The moonstone pendant at my neck warmed and the power came easily. As if the time it had sat inside of me, unused, had only made it stronger, more eager to do my bidding. I knew this was an illusion though. Power weakens when ignored, it doesn’t rest and regenerate. As if to prove this fact, once I’d flicked my mind out to the candles surrounding me and lit them, the energy flowing through my veins weakened to a slow pulse, drained.

Without opening my eyes I reached for the crystal with my left hand. The quartz grew warm in my grasp and I felt the power of my ancestry surge through me. Renewing itself. Bracing myself, I summoned the image from my dreams to my minds eye.

He was tall, over six feet, and solid. Dark hair swept back from rough-hewn features and bared dark eyes and full lips to my view. The lift of his head told me of his pride, his arrogance. But it did little to detract from the magnificence of him. His nakedness hid nothing from my view and I felt my blood heat at the sight of his golden skin stretched taut over firm muscles. The glinting silver hoops that pierced his nipples shimmered in the air. There had to be some significance to them, but I didn’t know exactly what it was so I filed the fact away for later research.

I’d thought it was just my repressed libido manifesting him in my dreams. The fact that I awoke each morning for the last week from dreams of him, wet between the thighs, but sated and heavy as only a well fucked woman can be, should’ve warned me that there was more to him than being a simple dream lover. But it had taken him appearing to me, in front of my desk at work that afternoon, while I was wide-awake to make me accept that fact.

As I studied the image in my mind, preparing to call out to Blodwin, moon Goddess well versed in Lunar Mysteries and Dreams, a warm breeze drifted over me, and a sense of magic filled the room. I opened my eyes slowly only to have my breath catch in my throat. He was there. All six feet whatever of gleaming masculinity. In front of me. In my room.

Website to See.

I started writing erotica about 4 years ago, before “romantica” or “erotic romance” came about. When the only mainstream erotica you could find was on the internet, or published by small press houses. Except for Black Lace. That was the big erotica publisher.

Anyway, When I decided to start writing it, I searched the internet for free reads, and one of my favorie sites is Seska 4 Lovers. I even had a short story published there in my first year of writing. (under a different name) However, I still go back there, often. I love the site. It’s full of very sex positve things, fiction and non-fiction and photo’s galore.

Right now the read is “You Give Me.” and it’s a nice short erotice bit. Go check it out for a bit of fun.

From My Dad

I got this email fom my dad, and ofcourse, had to try it. Couldn’t do it.

How Smart Is Your Right Foot?

This is so weird that it will boggle your mind. And you will
keep trying it several more times to see if you can
outsmart your foot. But you can’t!!!

1. While sitting at your desk, or wherever, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number “6″ in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction!!!

Isn’t that amazing?… And there is nothing you can do about it.
