Wow! I would have been so pissed off. Good for you for being "classy". And what an ass New Guy is. Sheesh.

As to education, it's important only if you decide to do something with it. I cannot tell you how many college grads come up to me at events I handle desperate for a job doing anything, part-time wine pourer. Cash register work. Anything.

Some with a masters degree.

I just look at them. I want to say, "For God's sake, you went to school for all those years, took out student loands, etc., graduated at great expense and time you'll never get back again, and now you're asking me for a job doing something that doesn't pay much more than min. wage? Yeesh!"

So, yeah, if one has a specific goal in mind, by all means, get a degree that will help you achieve that goal. But simply graduating from college with a general degree doesn't carry the weight it once did.

Arrrggggghhhhhh:evil:
I have customers who come up to check out with their mouths attached to a cell phone. I take great joy in interrupting them for all sorts of things:lol:

An asshole is an asshole.
Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with smarts.

I've met a few people in my life who'd be considered BRILLIANT. Three of them had genius I.Q.s.
And two of them were definitely assholes.

The ability to retain knowledge or abilities has NOTHING to do with your humanity. Customer #2 proved that.
But it was very good of you to let #1 ramble on, and probably made his poor pathetic day.

(And I also have a job that requires me to wait on customers...I REFUSE to help people who can't stop their drivel long enough to speak to me like a human being).

Back when I was a waitress I had a "church" group walk out on a bill. Next time they came in I had the manager on duty (big hulking latino guy) stand behind me while I told them they were barred from the restaurant. You should have seen the look on the preacher's face!

We could use the fountain of smarts & honor here in TX too!

Yup, I agree. Where is the fountain of smart? We sure could use it down here in Oz too. That, and the fountain of honour.

Comment Now, Sasha, you upset his manly sensibilities. *ggg* Let's hope he comes back, so you can throw him out before he orders for running out on his previous bill. :-P
