The Crib

I’m writing! I’m actually getting quite a bit done..so for today, I’m just going to share more of THE CRIB with you.

Unedited Excerpt:

There was a drool worthy black, red and chrome Indian Spirit parked at the curb in front of the Pub. Since I didnt recognize the bike, and there certainly couldnt be many of those beauties around, I guessed it was Devons. But he wasnt anywhere I could see.

With a glance up and down the street I took a couple steps and checked around the corner, in the alley.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up when I saw a beat-up Ford idling halfway down the alley. Bent over at the waist, passing something inside to the driver was Devon. He straightened up, shook his head sharply and patted the roof of the car as he turned to walk back the street.

I knew the second he saw me. He steps didnt falter, and his posture never changed, but I knew. And I knew it bothered him. The car pulled away quickly and I cursed the fact that I couldnt read the plate from that distance.

Devons loose-limbed walk was almost predatory as he came toward me. My heart rate sped up and my nipples hardened at the same time I realized that Devon might just be the man I was looking for, the killer.

My mind raced and my body screamed at me not to think. Thinking was bad. Thinking meant no more mind-blowing orgasms from this man.

Shit!

Our eyes locked as he came toward me and a shiver danced down my spine. A good shiver. A yummy shiver of anticipation.

You all done here?

I nodded slowly, eyes still locked with his while I tried to get my body back under control, and process what Id just seen.

Ready to go?

Giving myself a mental headshake I placed my palm flat in the middle of his chest, stepped close enough that my lips brushed against his when I answered, and cupped my other hand over his groin.
The real question is . . . are you ready?

His hand came up and cupped the back of my head, pulling me that last millimeter until his mouth came down on mine. His fingers clenched and with slow steady pressure he bent my head back, taking complete control of the kiss.

Firm lips, agile tongue, and sharp teeth ravaged my mouth chasing all thoughts from my mind. My fingers curled inward, gripping him, and I squirmed closer to the hard male body in front of me.

Ack!

The sharp cry slipped out when the hand pulled my head back sharply, ripping my mouth away from his, and bringing me back to earth with a slam.

What do you think, Alexis? His eyes bore into mine. Am I ready?

It was in that moment that I realized I wasnt thinking straight. Hell I wasnt thinking at all!

Babble

Hey everyone.

I’ve not got a lot of any one thing to say today. Life is going great for me…more things in the works as well as still trying to write like a maniac. I’m over halfway done THE CRIB (Lexy’s story) and plan to finish it this weekend. Plus I’m working on my story for Berkley, as well as plotting out a second novella for Kensington. It looks like it’s going to be good. Strangely, as a panster I’m not fond of having to plot. But I have this great editor, John Scognamiglio, who just requires a few paragraphs. So it’s not really plotting, but brainstorming. :) I like it cuz it gives me direction, but it doesn’t pin me down so much that I can’t still have fun with the story.

In non-writing news. I took Wednesday night from writing and had myself a few drinks with a friend. It was much needed, and I was back to the keyboard, and the gym yesterday. Still striving for that ‘balance’ thing. Now all I need is a steady man to play with and I’ll have it all. :hehe:

In not so cheerful news. Larissa’s lost everything to Hurricane Katrina. She did evacuate, and her family and pets are safe. She has a letter up on her blog, explaining a bit. As well, Steph and some others are putting together some stuff to help her out. There will be an auction , so for more details…keep an eye on Steph’s blog.

Now, to help you off to have a good weekend, how about a little teaser? This is Lexy’s view when Devon, the man in THE CRIB steps inside the bar.

My body temperature jumped and the air crackled with energy. Tall, dark, and dangerous looking, he was pure sin. And I wanted him from the first second I’d laid eyes on him.

He’d been in the bar a couple of times in the last week, but it never failed that when I started my shift, he was on his way out the door.

Seems my luck was about to change.

Stopping just inside the door, he scanned the small crowd, and when his piercing gray eyes settled on me, I met them head on. All thoughts of killers and jail time fled from my brain as I let my gaze roam boldly over his body.

Six feet of lean muscle stood there letting me look my fill from his shiny midnight hair to the toes of his well-worn boots. Wide shoulders tapered into a trim waist and flat stomach. Tight jeans encased well-muscled thighs and a promising bulge just below his belt buckle. I returned my gaze to his face and saw full sensuous lips stretched into a wicked grin. Goosebumps actually rose on my skin as I recognized a kindred soul.

The cocky twinkle in his eyes said he knew I’d enjoyed the visual tour. Then he returned the favor.
My insides quivered as his gaze raked over my curvaceous body, briefly settling on the length of leg the short skirt showed, before he followed the half dozen guys he was with to a large table with a lazy, almost predatory, gait.

I’d felt that intense gaze on my body as if it were his hands, and loved every second of it.
I recognized the group of guys he was with so I loaded up a serving tray with jugs of beer and frosty mugs, then started for their table, dirty thoughts running through my head the whole time.

Maybe the night wouldn’t be such a loss after all.
