Winners!

Tina wins a free download of The Devil Inside in a one day exclusive contest that was for my Newsletter subscribers only, and Kev wins some shower gel and a temporary body tattoo from yesterdays Blog giveaway!

Kev, if Luscious Berry shower gel isn’t your thing, email me. I’ve got a pretty cool Journal you might like.

Now, aside from promotional stuff, is there anyone out there that has been watching The Contender?

On Sunday night I watched two men battle for a spot in the final fight at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas for a Million dollars. I have to say, I’m n ot one for reality shows, I get sucked in occasionally but this one, I’ve been following it all since day one, and these guys have HEART. They push through everything else that’s going on, and give each fight their all, and each week I find myself in the middle of my livingroom jumping up and down and cheering on my faves.

Today, at the gym, my trainer said he finally watched it, (at my recomendation) and enjoyed it. We got to talking about wanting things, and going after them. Motivation, and where we find it. As I struggled with the 120 LUNGES he made me do, I remembered one of my fave motivational saying.

“All glory comes from daring to begin.”

In a split second it hit me that that appplies to both of my main priorites right now. Weight loss, (I’ve lost 2 pounds!) and writing a new full-length novel.

So, when I was done with my workout, I headed home and went to work on my wip. After all, I don’t want THE DEVIL INSIDE to be my last release, just my latest.

I personally find reality tv a strange place to find motivation, but it worked for me this time. My question is . . . where do you find motivation when you know you need it?

  1. I find my motivation in the future. I just have to look a few years ahead and see the end result if I do or do not follow through on my goals.

  2. Motivation? I am better at avoidence. I am motivated by a nice warm day to do yard work, the dog barking to take her for a walk, money to go over and mow the neighbor’s lawn. While I am doing lawns and walking dogs I sometimes think of great ideas for a story, but when I go to write they seem to go away. Maybe the insentive of a good royality check would help… lets see 40% of 5.95 is about 2.40 x $1.25 exchange rate = about $3.00 CAD. :doze:

  3. I find motivation by whining to my friends. LOL. Um, I take a nap sometimes. Amazing what you can come up with when you’re in that in between sleep stage. I try to get excited about the finished project and the momentum builds. I force myself to write, and the motivation builds itself. I dunno. But I think the motivation needs to come from within.

  4. I just saw my motivation in the toilet and I flushed. I think I’m screwed now. ;)

  5. It’s a good question and I can honestly say that I don’t know where the motivation comes from. But it’s there, because why else would I put myself through the torture that this business can bring? Obviously, I can’t stop writing, so I guess the love of telling the story is my motivation. Eventually, I’ll force some editor to listen.

Of course, there may be restraining orders involved, but that’s okay. :D

  6. Haha Steph! I’m sure the restrsining order will be dropped AFTER they read your story. ;)

    Great answers people.

I actually agree with Chey, in order to work, motivation should come from within. It might take an outtside stimulus to give it a kickstart (such as a saying, or picture of a very fit person) but for it to work for a person, that person has to want it. It has to be an inner drive.

That’s why You’re so motivated Steph. Because deep down, you WANT what you’re going after! :)

  7. Congrats Tina and Kev on the winning.

  8. The Contender kicks my ass. We’re addicted to reality TV, and I’ve never been affected by any show the way this one gets to me. I’m sniffling by the first commercial and bawling by the final bell.

(Although, if Manfredo doesn’t stop turning his gloves out and landing with his laces, I might throw something at my TV.)

My favorite sign hanging in the gym: If you want to box, train. If you want to win, train harder.

    Shan (Dejected Alfonso fan)

  9. I love that saying!
    Yay! Another Contender Fan!!

I have to admit, I was sad to see Alfonso go, but at the same time, I’m pleased with all 4 of the final 4, so it’s going to be hard.

Next week is gonna hurt, I have no idea who I want to win. Jesse was a fave for so long, but part of my really wants to see Sergio in the final fight!
