Virginity

Virginity

Virginity:
Quinn asked when my first time was.
It was one month before my 21st birthday when I threw away my virginity.

And I really did throw it away. (God I hope my Mother isn’t reading this!) I was raised Roman Catholic, but it wasn’t religion or spirituality that kept me from dropping my pants. It was the fact that fact that I had many friends that were parents by the age of 16 that had me stubbornly hanging on to my cherry. I wanted a life that held more to it than a grade 10 education and clerking at the corner store so I could pay for a babysitter.

But I also believe that part of me was waiting for love. For Mr. Right to come in and show me the way to heaven, via the bedroom doors.

You see. . . my Grandmother introduced me to Harlequin romance novels when I was pretty young. She was trying to keep me out of her hair and it worked. I ate them up. Back then there wasn’t a lot of sex in those books, unlike today’s deliciously erotic Blaze and sexy Temptations, back then it was all about love and marriage and commitment.
Things change. When I was 19 I started bartending and a whole new world opened up to me. Yet I still held out for love…then one day I just ran out of patience. I decided “Why not have some fun while I wait for love?” Well, I’ve had some fun since, and some heartache. I personally am still looking for love, and am not sure I’ll ever find it. I cry myself to sleep sometimes because I’m tired of being alone, but having another body next to me doesn’t mean I’m any less alone.

The choice of when to have sex is a very personal one. An ongoing one. It’s not just when to lose your virginity. I mean I’m no virgin, but the choice of when to have sex is still a personal, and an important one. A lot of factors are involved nowadays. Disease, pregnancy, fidelity.

All I can really say is that no-one is going to look after you better than yourself…so take the job seriously and think about what your getting yourself into…or should I say who? 😉

PS: Dianna~ Upside down we all look the same! I like it! 🙂
